FAQ

  • Why "Rebellious Wellness"?

I approach therapy with the belief that people don’t struggle in isolation. Our pain and exhaustion are shaped by systems that often demand resilience while offering very little safety in return (and profit from keeping us unwell).

Too often, mental health care itself focuses on helping people adapt to harmful conditions instead of questioning why those conditions exist. I believe healing cannot happen without naming harm from the systems that created it.

Rebellious Wellness is grounded in anti-oppressive values, harm reduction, and respect for your autonomy. My goal is to offer care that responds to the full reality of your lived experience and to support healing that includes agency, connection & the freedom to build a life that feels more aligned and whole.

  • What kinds of concerns do you most often work with?

Much of my work centers on supporting adults navigating the lasting impacts of complex trauma, whether from childhood experiences, high-control environments or harmful relationships, and helping them find healing and self-trust again. I also work frequently with ADHD (including late diagnoses), dissociative disorders, and identity exploration. Many of my clients are part of the LGBTQ+ community or exploring nontraditional relationship styles, and it’s important to me to offer a space that feels deeply affirming and nonjudgmental. • Do you take insurance?

I don’t accept insurance directly. A big reason for this is that insurance companies often place limits on therapy, like requiring certain diagnoses, restricting session frequency, or interfering in treatment decisions. By not billing insurance, I’m able to keep our work flexible, more private, and tailored to what actually supports you, not just what meets insurance requirements.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a receipt for you to request possible reimbursement from your insurance carrier. Learn more about rates here.

  • Do you offer a sliding scale?

I understand that the cost of therapy can be a real barrier, and making services accessible matters deeply to me. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots and am happy to talk with you one-on-one about options that could make therapy feel more doable.

  • What if I feel like I need therapy, but I'm not sure why?

That’s completely okay, and honestly very common. You do not need a clear reason or a big crisis to reach out. Many people start therapy simply knowing something feels heavy, stuck, or confusing. Our sessions can be a space to gently explore what’s beneath the surface, make sense of what you’re feeling, and start finding more clarity and ease in your life.

  • How long are sessions, and how often would we meet?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes, but I also offer shorter 30-minute sessions or longer 90-minute sessions when that feels more supportive. Most clients start with weekly sessions, and we can adjust the length and frequency over time. One of my core values is keeping therapy flexible and accessible, so we’ll figure out a rhythm that truly works for you.

  • What can I expect in a first session?

Our first session is really just a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and I’ll share a bit about how I work. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, we’ll move at your pace and make sure you feel comfortable as we start.

  • Do you have an office space/where are you located?

I currently offer therapy sessions online, and beginning March 2026 I will also be offering in-person sessions two days per week in Downtown Bloomington. If you’re interested in in-person therapy, I invite you to reach out to ask about availability.

Telehealth can be just as effective as in person therapy and offers flexibility and comfort for many people. I also know that being in the same physical space can feel important for some, and I’m glad to be able to offer both options. I provide services to clients in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois, where I am licensed.

  • What's your approach to therapy?

At its core, my work is trauma-informed—I value curiosity, compassion, and working alongside you rather than “fixing” you. Every person’s needs are different, so I tailor our sessions to what feels most supportive for you. I often draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed parts work and EMDR to help untangle old wounds and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been pushed aside to survive. I also weave in somatic and narrative approaches as needed, creating space for your mind, body, and story to heal in a way that feels safe and empowering.
